ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Mejung Park
In Candela’s front gallery, Mejung Park is stealing hearts with piles of garbage.
The alluring compositions are part of Mourning, a subset of Still Life for Things that Need a Goodbye. In her photographic series, Park creates delicate arrangements of discarded items from around her home and pairs them with paper florals she’s cut from a cherished book of botanical illustrations.
EXHIBITION: Solar Relics
Solar Relics marks Chris McCaw’s third solo exhibition at Candela Gallery, showcasing his continually evolving, innovative exploration of light, time, and material. The exhibition spotlights new and old works marked by the sun using solar exposure as both medium and process, grounding photography in its most elemental form. With in-camera solarization, overexposure, and experimental techniques, each image becomes an artifact of radiant transformation.
EXHIBITION: XOXO
Candela Gallery is excited to open 2025 with XOXO: inspired by the beloved and overly-commodified day of Saint Valentine, this group exhibition takes a playful look at dynamics and byproducts of love. Take a walk through the back gallery for pops of rouge, birds of romance (and mythology), missed connections, and dreamy landscapes.
EXHIBITION: On the Geography
Candela Gallery is kicking off 2025 with On the Geography– a feature exhibition by Madrid-based artist
and educator Linarejos Moreno. The exhibition opens Friday, January 10th, and will remain on view
through Saturday, February 22nd.
EXHIBITION: Portals II
Candela Gallery is excited to announce a solo exhibition by Richmond, Virginia-based artist Susan Worsham, opening November 1st. Renowned for her vibrant use of color, Worsham’s upcoming show, Crystals of Silver, draws inspiration from her extensive collection of microscope slides and will feature a limited edition series of rarely seen black-and-white photographs.

GALLERY TAKEOVER: Abstract Land & Filing Co.
Candela Gallery is thrilled to announce a gallery takeover by Charlottesville, Virginia-based artist and community organizer Morgan Ashcom. Titled the Abstract Land & Filing Co. (ALFC), this exhibition will be Ashcom’s second at Candela, continuing to showcase his love for parafiction and collaboration.Since 2018, Ashcom has operated his studio practice out of an industrial warehouse in Charlottesville, Virginia. At one time, employees at this commercial building manufactured products for the analog data industry, commonly referred to as the visible records industry. While the factory is no longer in operation, Ashcom has spent the past seven years reimagining this property to feature a community-directed commons and art space called Visible Records, nestled within a constellation of blue-collar workers.
