Photography has a long and intertwined history with the book form. The synergy between the book and the photograph has not only continued, but significantly expanded as a powerful platform for photographers to present their work.

This May, Candela Books + Gallery will feature a compelling selection of work from eleven well-crafted, self-published and small press photography books:

Catharine Carter
Eliot Dudik & Jared Ragland
Adam Ekberg
Lisa Elmaleh
Meg Griffiths
Carol Golemboski
Louviere & Vanessa
Justin James Reed
Kurt Simonson
Ashly Stohl
Ofer Wolberger

Ain’t Bad Magazine
Flash Powder Project
Horse & Buggy Press
Horse Think Press
One Day Project
Peanut Press
Waltz Books
Zatara Press

The purpose of the exhibition is to highlight the range of ways independently published photography books are being produced today. As a publisher, Candela is committed to the quality and design of the printed medium. We believe the photographic books on view have an intimate relationship with each photographer’s work and make a remarkable contribution to their legacy.

Candela will host a Indie PhotoBook Fair Saturday, May 7th, from 1 – 5pm. Followed by a Panel Discussion from 5 – 7pm on Saturday, May 7th. Be sure to join us and immerse yourself into the photographic printed matter.
