ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Candela Gallery is proud to present the first United States solo feature by Seoul-based artist, Mejung Park. In her series, Still Life for Things that Need a Goodbye, Mourning, Park looks at garbage through a lens of grief and care. The artist takes the discards from around her home and builds sculptural works out of the disparate pieces, crowning them with cut paper imagery of florals that will never wither, yet were never alive. The resulting photographs are soft, quiet altars to the bittersweetness of daily living, nodding to the things we love and lose on even the smallest of scales.
